Eat

We are looking forward to eating our way through Victoria and New South Wales

Before we go out to Australia, Megan and Shaun, who had been over last year, suggested some places for us to try when we are there.  We will let you know how we go if we visit them.

We are bound to visit plenty of restaurants while we are away.  We could visit the ones that have been recommended or we could make our own way through the culinary delights of the antipodes.  I don't think that they serve Koala or Kangaroo, but we will find out.

Watch out for some food related photos through this section

I must say sorry to Megan and Shaun here.  They provided some recommendations for our visit, but as we had three night time things happening we couldn't take any of them on.

Our first taste of Australian restaurant food was at Steakhouse Grill 66 in the docklands area of Melbourne. We were on our way to the big bash.  The portions don't look too big from the picture, but it tasted delicious.  the peppercorn sauce was good over our ribeye steaks

On the way to our next Big Bash game we had our dinner in the Prince Bridge Hotel by the train station in central Melbourne.  I had fish and chips (on left) and Wilma had Chicken Schnitzel.  My fish was quite fleshy as opposed to the flakey fish we gat back home.  Wilma said that the Schnitzel was beautiful too.

Sydney mealtimes

Our first evening in Sydney we went for a pub meal.  we were in the Royal George on George street and I got the Chicken and mushroom Pie.  It was delicious. I cant remember what Wilma had. (ooops)

We went to one of Megan's recommendations on the next night which was the spice room on Circular Quay.  We had a set meal of Indian starters and then a selection of different curries with rice and Nam bread

We also went to the other of Megan's Sydney recommendations Burgers and Ribs.

I sat down to A plate of half a hack of ribs with chips while Wilma had steak with her chips

In Manley we had another pub lunch on our way back to the ferry.  Wilma had schnitzel again. I had fish and chips,  This fish was more like at home flaky, but they cant do batter very well.
