We arrived in Brisbane at about 10 o'clock at night after a long flight from Hong Kong so it was straight to bed.
the next day we had nothing planned so we took our time to go and have a look around Brisbane city center. i took the chance to get my computer problem sorted out. we took advantage, as we did every other day, of taking the free Spring Hill loop bus back to the hotel. We found out later that there were two free bus's and all other public transport was 50 cents per journey wherever you go.
Day two computer problem on the way to being sorted, we had a trip to go on. It was a boat trip up the Brisbane river to the lone pine Koala sanctuary where we had a great time.
I was a bit worried about the boat trip knowing Wilma's record with them, but th 90 minute trip each way was no problem with the river being Very calm.
When we arrived there was a birds of pray display just about to happen, and that was very informative and entertaining, then we found ourselves in a kangaroo paddock, where you can feed them.

After the Kangaroo we finaly got to the Koalas.
There were plenty of them about in different areas

We even had our photos taken with them

we must remember though, they are just Koalas, not Koala Bears. try this link for more info
After a great time at the Sanctuary we had another nice ride down the river, and when we got back to Brisbane we explored the south bank of the river where we came across a Korean Pagoda, and an upside down elephant

The next day we went on a walking tour of the city with a very informative guide called Tom

In the evening we went to Brisbane's Cricket ground the Gabba. so called after the suburb of Brisbane it is located in, Woolloongabba. We went to see some Aussie Rules football. I have seen it on the telly at home, and it looks very exciting.

Wilma and I were expecting a good game as the crowd seemed to be a sell out. Lots of young people there, girls on there own, and Away supporters (all the way from Melbourne) mixed in with the home support.
There was lots going on on the pitch before the game, and with 18 players on the field for both sides we were well up for it.

how wrong we were. the crowd only got inti the game when the ball was in their area of the field. they just carried on with their own conversations until the ball came near, As it is played on a cricket pitch that didnt happen that often.
We did understand the basics on scoring, but that didnt help to much when the ball was just going up and down the far side of the pitch.
We decided to go home at half time, but i did get a hat.
Next day we were off on our road trip.
